Shawn McVey, MA, MSW interviews a long-time entrepreneur friend, Dr. Dani McVety. Dr. McVety found her calling while volunteering with human hospice before veterinary school. Just months after graduation she founded Lap of Love Veterinary Hospice in Tampa, Florida, now a nationwide network helping families say goodbye to their beloved pets in the comfort of home.
Dr. McVety frequently writes and speaks for professional and lay audiences on many topics. She proudly graduated from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine and is the youngest recipient of both the college’s Distinguished Young Alumni Award (2013) and the Florida Veterinary Medical Association's President's Award (2014). She was honored to also receive the Pet Industry Woman of the Year (2017), and is the 2022 AVMA Bustad Companion Animal Veterinarian of the Year.
