Welcome to Mindshift, a podcast by the Homecoming project that exists to equip and empower you to advocate on behalf of vulnerable children around the world.

In this episode, join host Krish Kandiah for an inspiring conversation with Nayomi Silva and Sohani Fernando about the brilliant work they are doing to bring about care reform in Sri Lanka. In this conversation, they talk about their vision and heart to see the Church rise up to care for vulnerable children through alternative care such as adoption, fostering, and kinship care. They emphasise that a mindshift is needed within the Church to think about family as more than a biological institute. Krish, Nayomi, and Sohani also discuss the importance of raising up children to advocate on behalf of other children. We hope you feel inspired and challenged by this interview.

Dr Krish Kandiah, host and friend of the Homecoming project, is a government advisor in child welfare, an author, theologian, and activist based in the UK. Krish and his wife Miriam have six children through birth, adoption, and fostering.

Nayomi Silva is an attorney-at-law and an independent consultant on child protection and child rights in Sri Lanka.

Sohani Fernando is a clinical social worker and an independent consultant on child protection and welfare in Sri Lanka.

Recorded in October 2019, this podcast was brought to you by the Homecoming project – because children thrive in families.
