The Mystery of the Moon Show Notes

Summary:

The moon is referenced many times in Scripture. It’s referred to as a light that at some point will be darkened then shine brighter than the sun. It is an ordinance, a false god, and a metaphor for Israel’s (Jacob’s) wife in a dream. The Bible speaks of it turning into blood, that it stood still one day, that it endures forever, it is a faithful witness, appointed for seasons, and it will give praise to God. Scientists, however, are uncertain how the moon came to be. Is there something on the moon that has been hidden to the world, but revealed by the Scriptures?

Notes:

Moon: Hebrew - yārēaḥ (yaw rah ak)- From the Heb. yeraḥ, which is also translated moon, month

Jericho (yᵊrēḥô) is derived from yārēaḥ and means “its moon”

The first two cities the Lord delivered to Joshua in Canaan were Jericho and Ai

Ai = heap of ruin / Jericho = its moon

Scriptures:

All Scripture references are from the King James Version of the Bible

Genesis 1:14-19, Genesis 37:9, Deuteronomy 4:15-19, Genesis 3:4-5, Genesis 1:6-8, Acts 19:35, Deuteronomy 17:2-6, Joshua 10:12-14, 2 Kings 23:5, Ephesians 6:12, Ephesians 2:1-3, 2 Corinthians 4:3-5, Psalm 8:3, Genesis 1:14-16, Psalm 89:35-37, Psalm 148:3, Jeremiah 31:35-37, Luke 21:25-28, Mark 13:24-25, Joel 2:1-11, Joel 2:28-32

I use a Tyndale large print King James Bible that can be found here:

Takeaway:

The moon shall be turned into blood. Is this a reference to a red color only, a reference to actual transformation, or a reference to a battle? We know that God said, “I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth,

blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke,” in Joel 2. Is it possible this is a reference to the war in heaven in Revelation 12? Are we approaching a possible “invasion” of fallen angels to earth, or a visible battle in the heavens between God’s mighty angels and the dragon’s rebel forces? Could those forces be stationed on the dark side of the moon, or Mars?
