The queen of the Insectoid Hive, troubled by the growing conflict with the "animals" (humans), seeks a way to communicate with them during her journey to claim a new Hive ship. Haunted by the memories of past brutalities, she discovers a potential breakthrough in communication from an ancient memory. But her plans take a dire turn when her sister captures human soldiers on the builder world, pushing the queen into a desperate bid to save them and escape.
