The Social Progress Index (SPI) measures the extent to which countries provide for the social and environmental needs of their citizens. Fifty-four indicators in the areas of basic human needs, foundations of well-being, and opportunity to progress show the relative performance of nations. America's Podcaster, Kurt Caceres, talks about these global trends and how the United States continues to fall lower in perceived quality of life. However, are these perceptions just "First World Problems"? In the most powerful country on the planet, with the most advanced technological and military infrastructures on earth, why are the citizens so unhappy? Is well-being relative to ones environment and upbringing? America is a country of entitlement, materialism and excess. So why isn't it creating conditions for all individuals to reach their full potential.
