ssp 1 Kristin Guldbrandsen Frøysa and Hilde Hasselberg (english) The Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSPs) – published in the 6th report from the international panel on climate change in 2021, were first developed in the 2010s as a community effort by an international team of climate scientists, economists, and energy systems modelers as scenarios to explore how social, economic, and environmental trends might evolve in the future. They serve as tools for scientists and policymakers to envision various global futures, each marked by different challenges related to sustainability, inequality, and economic growth. The five SSPs outline a range of possibilities, from a highly sustainable future to one of increasing division and resource scarcity. Rjukan Solarpunk Academy will through out the next months gather informed perspectives on the SSP`s, starting with: Dr.scient. Kristin Guldbrandsen Frøysa, which you just heard in this podcast. She is a thinker, academic and scientist with a broad repertoire in various fields like mathematics, marine research, wind-power, the oil industry, and other areas within the private sector. She is currently Director of Energy at the University of Bergen where she is responsible for ensuring more research and education on the topics of energy transition, renewable energy, and adaption to a lowemission society.
