In this week's episode, we explore the chilling tale of The Poison Ring of Philadelphia—a sinister web of crime and dark superstitions that spread terror during the Great Depression. Led by two cousins, Paul and Herman Petrillo, the Poison Ring operated covertly from 1932 to 1938, preying on vulnerable women across Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, and Delaware. By posing as "spiritual counselors," the Petrillo cousins tapped into old-world superstitions, promising these women mystical solutions to life’s hardships and unhappy marriages. Using elaborate ruses involving “love potions,” the cousins, along with local "witches", convinced women that a mysterious potion could either cure their husbands if they were truly good men—or kill them if they were not.
