The causes of death varied and were listed as natural, undetermined, or SIDS. But with each child's death, questions began to arise more and more about Marybeth. Was there a genetic problem? Was she just terribly unlucky? Why did she continue to risk having children? Those close to her went from feeling sympathy for her, to puzzlement, and finally to suspicion that Marybeth had something to do with the deaths. Part one will cover Marybeth's own childhood and upbringing and whether or not it played a part in her future actions.
