Ep. 37- From Flight Attendant to Pilot: Fulfilling a Childhood Dream at 39 with Kerbi Mueller
Manage episode 408959968 series 3564739
I like to look back at old diary entries of when I was a little girl to see what my adolescent brain thought about life, boys, school, and my future dreams. It’s fun and yet sometimes embarrassing to see what I wrote and the thoughts I had. I like to look back on the memories of dreams I had as a little girl. I wanted to be an actress, perform, or do voice overs for cartoons. Those were some of my dreams as a little girl. Could they still happen? Maybe, if I still wanted them too, you never know.... My guest on today’s episode had a dream of traveling the world and becoming a pilot from a very young age. Was it an easy road? Well… you’ll have to listen to Kerbi Mueller's story on starting out as a flight attendant and becoming a Pilot at 39 to find out! Listen to Episode 37 of The More Than Your Age Podcast with Pilot, Kerbi Mueller.
If you’ve asked these questions before:
“Can I start over in my 30s?”
“Can I become a pilot later in life?”
“Can I become a pilot after being a flight attendant?”
“Can I become a female pilot?”
“Can I pursue my childhood dreams?”
“Is it too late to start a new career?”
“Am I too old?”
THIS is the episode for you!
Questions we discussed:
-At what point in your life did you decide you wanted to be a flight attendant? What was it about working for an airline/being a flight attendant that peaked your interest?
-Did you have additional hopes or plans you wanted to pursue?
-How did you combat negative self-talk or fears that you weren’t qualified or fears that you were too late in the game? What were (if any), the hesitations you had at the beginning?
-Have you felt like you’ve had to prove yourself as qualified because you are a woman?
-Did you feel as though you had to prove yourself as qualified starting at an older age?
-What is the reception like when passengers board your plane (or deboard) and see you?
-If there’s a woman who may have an itch to fly, but is scared, or feels as though she;s too late in the game to start, what would you say to her as she’s wrestling with these thoughts?
