The Phillies keep sending Taijuan Walker out to pitch, and he keeps on losing. Friday’s loss was the latest example as Walker allowed 6 runs in just 3 innings, as the Phillies went on to lose to the Royals 7-4.

Walker dropped to 3-5 on the season an for a 4th consecutive start failed to log 5 innings of work. The Phillies haven’t won a game started by Walker since May 22nd. Granted, Walker has had two different IL stints since then, but that’s still 8 straight starts ending in a team loss.

Offensively, Kyle Schwarber and Trea Turner continued to struggle going 0-10 with 6 strike outs combined in the loss. The two were the only Phillies to go without a hit in the game. Bryce Harper broke out of his slump with a 2-hit night, while Nick Castellanos, Brandon Marsh and J.T. Realmuto also came up with 2-hit games. Castellanos, Stott and Marsh all drove in runs as well.

Despite the Phillies getting the bats going with 11 hits, the game felt out of reach from the start.
