Kyle Schwarber did it again! No, not another 3-homer game, lets not get greedy, but he led off with a homer for the 2nd time in as many games as the Phillies went on to beat the Blue Jays, 4-2. Schwarber’s leadoff blast pulled him into a tie with Alfonso Soriano for most leadoff homers in a season with 13.

Schwarber wasn’t the only Phillie feeling the power. Cody Clemens started the game and rewarded his manager for that decision with a 2-run homer in the 2nd inning that gave the Phillies a 3-2 lead. Then JT Realmuto hit a solo homer in the 9th for an insurance run.

Cristopher Sanchez made the start for the Phillies and he delivered in more ways than one. Not only did he limit the Jays to just 2 runs in his start, but he also pitched 7 innings, helping a bullpen that pitched 8.1 inning the previous night. Sanchez improved to 10-9 in the season.

Phillies did get a scare in this one, when Bryce Harper, who has already talked about a sore elbow and wrist, got hit with a 92 mph fastball in his elbow and later left the game. Rob Thomson said after the game that Harper being taken out was just the team being cautious and that they’ll have a conversation to see if Harper will get some time off in their next series.
