Cole Ragans dominated Miami with eleven strikeouts, and three different KC players hit home runs, leading the Royals over the Marlins 4-1 in Kansas City.

The Marlins struck out 15 times- little league numbers- against Cole Ragans, managing just four hits and not having one runner reach second base after the fourth inning.

Roddery Munoz pitched pretty well for the Marlins, but solo home runs hit by Vinnie Pasquantino, Salvador Perez and Hunter Renfroe gave the Royals- and Ragans- all the offense they would need. In fact, no Royals player had two hits or more tonight.

Otto Lopez had two hits for Miami, the only Marlin to do it. Four different Miami players struck out three times each tonight, and four Marlins struck out two times each.

The Marlins (27-51) and Royals (43-37) will play game two of this three-game series tomorrow night. Yonny Chirinos will make his second start of the year for Miami. The thirty year-old righty pitched five innings, giving up two runs eight hits.

Royals' ace Seth Lugo, (10-2, 2.82 ERA) coming off back-to-back wins over the Dodgers and A's, will take the ball for the home team.
