Rookie Right-hander Valente Bellozo and the bullpen get it done again, and the Marlins got just enough offense from Derek Hill and Nick Fortes to win 3-2 and avoid the sweep in New York.

Bellozo gave up just two runs on hits in 5 1/3 innings, and the bullpen added three scoreless innings, with Jesus Tinoco striking out all four hitters he faced in relief of Bellozo. Andrew Nardi came in after that, and struck out Brandon Nimmo with a runner on and two outs.

Calvin Faucher pitched out of two-on with no outs jam in the ninth to pick up the save. This was the fifth time (in six career starts) Bellozo has allowed two runs or fewer.

Derek Hill went 2-4 and drove in the winning run with his eighth inning single scoring Jonah Bride with what would be the winning run. Hill had earlier scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at two.

Nick Fortes added a sacrifice fly for Miami, (46-78) as the Fish avoided the three-game sweep to finish the season 6-7 vs the Mets.

Nimmo homered for the Mets, capping off a big series for him.

Miami has dropped six of nine, including three of the five games on this road trip.

The Marlins are heading home to open up a three-game series against the Defending National League Champion Arizona Diamondbacks tomorrow. First pitch is set for 12:05pm ET. No word yet on who will start for Miami.
