On the one hand, it's obviously an honor to represent your country in the Olympics. You can't begrudge players for taking advantage of the opportunity to play when its given. And no question, LeBron James and Anthony Davis are both worthy of a spot on the roster.

So kudos to them, go bring home a gold medal.

On the other... those guys have a lot of mileage. James has historic levels of mileage. The Olympics just add to that, and while the games and training in the aggregate may not be much more rigorous than what either guy does in the offseason, and playoff level intensity for games in July is just something that never happens. So the routine may not be harder, but it's definitely different.

Different will make people nervous. Realistically, though, how much impact could there be from this? It definitely had an impact on Austin Reaves last season.

Pluuuuuuuus, the Lakers lose again in Summer League, but the important players look better.
