Leon Ruri is the founder of “Haka For Life,” an initiative that uses the traditional Māori haka to empower community, particularly those battling depression. Growing up in New Zealand, Leon moved to Australia and saw an opportunity to support community through cultural connection.
Since its inception in 2017, Haka For Life has organized significant events, such as a performance on Sydney Tower Eye for International Men’s Day with a commitment to generate awareness and support for the unique mental health issues facing Men and indigenous people.
