Remember To Enquire

In 2 Samuel 2:1-4, we see David seeking guidance from the Lord before making significant decisions, particularly regarding his next move after the death of King Saul:
"After this, David inquired of the Lord, 'Shall I go up into any of the cities of Judah?' And the Lord said to him, 'Go up.' David asked, 'Where shall I go?' He replied, 'To Hebron.' So David went up there with his two wives, Ahinoam of Jezreel and Abigail, the widow of Nabal of Carmel. David also took the men who were with him, each with his family, and they settled in Hebron and its towns."
David's example teaches us the importance of seeking guidance from God before making decisions. He didn't rush into action but paused to consult with the Lord. This practice of seeking guidance demonstrates humility and reliance on God's wisdom rather than solely trusting in his own understanding.
In our own lives, it's easy to rush headlong into decisions, relying solely on our own judgment or the advice of others. But David's example reminds us of the importance of pausing to seek divine guidance. By enquiring of the Lord, we acknowledge His sovereignty and wisdom, inviting His direction into our plans and decisions.
In our fast-paced world, where quick decisions are often valued, taking the time to enquire of the Lord may seem counterintuitive. However, it's in these moments of seeking God's guidance that we align our will with His and find true clarity and direction. Just as David did, let's remember to enquire of the Lord in all our ways, trusting in His perfect wisdom to guide us along the right path.
