Around this time every year, dozens of parents of high school prospects ask IL's Terry Foy some version of the question, "How does recruiting work?" In an effort to round out that answer, he's interviewing a series of DI men's lacrosse coaches about their process, continuing with Utah coach Drew McMinn.
After playing goalie at Providence, McMinn spent seven years as an assistant at Robert Morris before taking over and serving as head coach for 10 season. Now heading into his fourth year since taking the reins at Utah, McMinn's teams are known for playing a unique style that's heavily dependent on transition. He breaks down how that informs his staff's approach to evaluating, and then dives into the unique elements of recruiting to Salt Lake City, highlighted by an uncommon tuition wrinkle that the university offers.
