Rachel is a writer, educator, and mental health advocate. She’s also the host of the Dear Family, Podcast where she celebrates our complicated families and inspirational people overcoming obstacles to find mental wellness.
After discovering her beloved grandfather’s incomplete manuscript 24 years after he jumped from his Beverly Hills high rise, Rachel set out to cut the intergenerational trauma she was desperate to not pass on to her two precious daughters. Shame from dark family secrets from her family’s substance abuse, homelessness, and marital affairs was replaced with love and understanding. Her family’s five generations of mental illness from bipolar, depression, anxiety, PTSD, and ADHD that led to four suicides no one ever discussed was replaced with compassion and advocacy.
