Welcome to episode three of _How To Go To Work,_ the podcast that accompanies the book _How To Go To Work_ (Penguin, 2020). Each week authors Lucy Clayton and Steven Haines will be asking guest to take us right back to the beginning of their career. We’re not interested in stellar success stories or show off narratives – this is a show about the start of things. However famous our guests are, we start with their Saturday job. Tracking the progress from early work experience through to guest’s current life, we examine what was learnt on the way, how the journey developed, how people are held back or inspired further. This week’s guest is Antonia Belcher, Founding Partner of MHBC. Antonia has over 40 years’ experience in the construction and property industries and leads her own business that she founded in 2007. Her story of transitioning in a very traditional, male dominated working environment, where there was no history or visible LGBT influences to draw upon, has inspired her to be a force for positive change for LGBT+ in all business spheres, but especially in her chosen career path of Surveying. Join Lucy and Antonia as they talk about an extraordinary career, authenticity at work and why the right thing isn’t always the easy thing. * [How To Go To Work: The honest advice no one ever tells you at the start of your career — published by Penguin](https://www.amazon.co.uk/How-Go-Work-Honest-Advice/dp/0241399467/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&qid=1580036511&sr=8-1) * [The Antonia & Andrea Belcher Trans Fund](https://giveout.org/trans-fund) * [Antonia’s profile on Out Leadership](https://outleadership.com/outleader/antonia-belcher/) * [MHBC Cumming](https://mhbccumming.com) Email or follow the show on Twitter, @[howtogotowork](https://twitter.com/howtogotowork/).
