At the beginning of the Jewish holiday of Sukkot—the Feast of the Tabernacles—Jews all over the world celebrate the protections God gave them as they fled slavery. The beginning of that holiday this year brings news that Israel, which is centered in the land Jews fled to when they were freed from slavery, has killed the master terrorist—Yahya Sinwar, the head of Hamas, the leader of the October 7th pogrom.

As the Jews of yore sang praises to God for helping destroy their enemies, related in the book of Exodus, so, too, should we all share in the victory of a master-terrorist, an abuser of civilization, a mass murderer who used children and civilians as targets of war and rape as a weapon of war being removed from his ability to ever do that again.

There are certain monsters the civilized simply cannot share the earth with. Sinwar was one—and we, the innocents, are safer, and better, for it.

Our entire nation—left, right and center—ought to be commending our ally in Israel.
