Prejudice OR Racism? What is the Difference?
Manage episode 376114372 series 3508533
Prejudice and Racism are two words that send worlds colliding. We should understand the proper motive for prejudice. Prejudice is a common method of discernment we use to predict an outcome based on past beliefs and experience, regardless of race or skin color. It is not always negative to see things prejudicially as it is sometimes used as an alarm bell in our mind to alert our natural God-given instinct to “fight or flight.” We could be prejudice by running from a bear in the woods that might be walking towards us! Whether we know for sure if the bear is going to eat us or just wants our food sitting on the picnic table, On the contrary RACISM is INTOLERABLE! Vince Everett Ellison is quoted: “It’s a SIN to only look at SKIN.” God is not racist, nor should we be as He created ALL of us in HIS image. In God’s eyes, EVERYONE is EQUAL and no one is “born racist” based on some’s cultural-conjecture. Yet some parents teach their kids to hate others based on the way they look or how it will be perceived by others in their own community. There is only one race, and that is the human race. Smile on your brothers and sisters of different skin tones and watch God move favorably in your own life! Love your neighbor as yourself! At the end of the day we all came from the same parents.
