NO WAY! Don’t be a speed bump!

Thank you for calling GIH where we instigate growth one call at a time where we utilize antiquated technology to deliver 3-minute leadership lessons every week day! This is message #172 and I am Aaron Havens.

What in the world?
What kind of opening sentence is that Aaron?
What does that even mean?

People often ask me how I come up with topics for the Growth Instigators Hotline. I've recently begun saying, what would you talk about today? Think back on your day, what's a high low and buffalo that happened in your life? What's something compelling and intriguing? Something that stands out?…and give me your answer in 321 go… and just like that topics come up.

Earlier today, I came up with a thought. A phrase. Don’t be a speed bump. And as I began thinking in multiple different realms on what that could look like, I came up with a few different options right off the bat. The first option was talking about having a ton of energy, running after something, then just getting exhausted and laying down. Quitting. I didn't like that one a whole lot. The second option was talking about how AI is making advancements and so as humanity we should not abdicate our leadership, just don't lay down and let computers take over. That one felt kind of convoluted and confusing. I finally landed on empowering those coming behind us. As you're running and living life and learning your lessons, are you paving a road behind you for people to excel and exceeded what you've ever done? Or are you laying down in the road and becoming obstacle for someone to overcome!

I want to live a life where I am cutting edge, driving, thriving, striving, and going for it, so that those coming behind me go even further faster and quicker making a even larger impact in their lives and in the lives of the people around them. I want to be an asset, not a liability. I want to help people get where they're going. How about you? So my friends take what I do, make it better! And I hope you are the type of person that when you feel the energy waning, don’t just die in the road and become an obstacle, a speed bump for people to overcome, no step aside and hand them a Gatorade as they fly by at mock speed to achieve bigger and greater things!

I leave you today with a quote from the late President Ronald Reagan "The greatest leader is not necessarily the one who does the greatest things. He is the one that gets the people to do the greatest things.”

Let’s be empowering. Not obstacles!

Thanks for calling in today. Tune in tomorrow for a fresh new topic. At the sound of the beep, where are you on purpose equipping others to go beyond and do more than you?
