Romans 12:9

Main Point: Love truly by hating all evil and holding fast to all good.

I. Love truly by hating all that is evil.

“True love is not a directionless emotion or something that can only be felt but not expressed. Love is not genuine when it leads a person to do something evil or to avoid doing what is right – as defined by God in His Word.” – Douglas Moo

“Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.” – Ephesians 5:11

“O you who love the LORD, hate evil! He preserves the lives of his saints; he delivers them from the hand of the wicked.” – Psalm 97:10

II. Love truly by holding fast to all that is good.

“For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome.” – 1 John 5:3

III. The Embodiment and Proof of True Love.

Application

1) Love truly by hating and exposing what God calls evil.

2) Love truly by loving and clinging to what God calls good.

3) Love truly by repenting and trusting His Son Jesus.
