Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced the construction of five new bridges over the Trade Centre Roundabout to improve traffic flow, especially for residents in communities such as DWTC, DIFC, Zabeel, Al Satwa, Karama, Jafiliya, and Mankhool.
These bridges, covering over 5,000 meters, will connect Sheikh Zayed Road with key streets like Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street, Sheikh Rashid Street, 2nd December Street, Zabeel Palace Street, and Al Mustaqbal Street.
The project, valued at Dh696.414 million, aims to double the intersection’s capacity, reducing delays from 12 minutes to just 90 seconds and cutting travel time between Sheikh Zayed Road and Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street from six minutes to one.
These changes will create a free-flowing connection for traffic from 2nd December Street to Al Majles Street and from Sheikh Rashid Street to Deira, while enhancing the flow on the upper-level bridge from Sheikh Zayed Road to Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street.
The initiative is part of a larger development plan that includes the Al Mustaqbal Street Development Project, set to be awarded in November. The new bridges, expected to support over half a million residents, include:
- a two-lane bridge from Sheikh Zayed Road to Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Street with a capacity of 3,000 vehicles per hour,
- two two-lane bridges linking Sheikh Rashid Street with 2nd December Street with a 6,000 vehicle per hour capacity,
- two more two-lane bridges from Al Majles Street to 2nd December Street, also with a capacity of 6,000 vehicles per hour.
