The United Nations, along with its partners and the Democratic Republic of Congo government, Thursday launched a $2.5 billion Humanitarian Response Plan for the people of eastern DRC. UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said the plan seeks $2.5 billion this year to provide life-saving assistance and protection for 11 million people, including 7.8 million internally displaced in DRC. An official of Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces (RSF) says one goal of the parallel government formed recently in Kenya is to address the humanitarian needs of the over 20 million Sudanese living in RSF-controlled areas.
