Tristan has a problem, which is that through no fault of his own* he finds himself at the borders of the elemental chaos that the world is shaped from, on inconstant ground beneath an ever-shifting sky. Even worse, he is trapped there with the ancient power Ambiphorax, a creature whose destructive power and will to overthrow civilisations has shown itself to be endless.
