Karen Maloz was married to Billy Maloz and they had a son named Christopher Maloz.

They lived in what before this catastrophic event took place was known as a safe and quiet neighborhood. The neighborhood is tucked away behind the heavily traveled roads of St. Charles Street and Valhi Boulevard in Houma, Louisiana.

It was Easter Sunday, when Houma resident Karen Maloz found herself in the ICU at University Hospital in New Orleans, being treated for gunshot wounds inflicted not by an intruder, but – by her very own son.

Just the week before this event, Karen Maloz was at a neighborhood watch meeting where local officials said good things about the dedication of the volunteers, and the Southdown West subdivision’s record of safety.

This event would mark the day that turned Southdown West subdivision classified as an unsafe neighborhood. Grab your drink and goodies and join us for this wild and crazy story.
