One of the up and coming U.S. stars successfully defended his welterweight crown in front of his Philly fans, a rising lightweight rallied to win an important bout in Las Vegas on the way up in the division and Jake Paul joins us on the newest "Fight Freaks Unite Recap Podcast!"
Host T.J. Rives is back with insider Dan Rafael to go over the weekend results, give insight and analysis on what they saw, plus have some news and nostalgia, as well.
First, they talk Ramon "Chocolatito" Gonzalez winning his non-title fight Friday night in his home country of Nicaragua. At 37, what does he have left? Dan has thoughts.
Next, they go over the unbeaten 147 lb. star Jaron Ennis with his 5th round TKO win in the Matchroom main event over David Avaneysan in front of over 15,000 in Philly to retain. Why was "Boots" good but not great? Still, he dominated and most importantly, what's next?
Also, unbeaten 135 lb. star Raymond Muratalla scored a 10 round decision over veteran Tevin Farmer in a fight that he appeared to be losting through five rounds in the Top Rank main event in Vegas. Should there be concern for Muratalla that he didn't look better, quicker in this one? Also, how soon might he see a title challenge?
Then, it's Jake Paul time, as he joins Dan for a one on one in advance of his DAZN PPV showdown Saturday with barenuckle brawler Mike Perry in Tampa. The cocky social media star talks how soon he thinks he'll end this bout and also, waiting for the rescheduled bout with Mike Tyson, now for November.
There's fight news on some upcoming Matchroom shows in August and September that the guys discuss.
And, there anniversary nostalgia on a big Danny Garcia KO of Amir Khan and Dan's got a great non-title, lesser known bout from this week in 2001 with Mickey Ward in it from "ESPN2's Friday Night Fights" to go over.
It's all on the "Fight Freaks Unite Recap Podcast" and make sure to follow/subscribe on Apple, Spreaker, Spotify, etc.!
