"After the whirlwind of candles, birthday cake, and three-year-olds running around the house, my husband and I cleaned up the chaos. Parents to a now three-year-old and a two-month-old daughter, we were both exhausted. We got our newborn and toddler to bed, and I immediately fell asleep.
After a few hours I heard a noise. I’ve always been a light sleeper, but whatever had woken me was so quiet I thought I was dreaming. When I looked at the clock, it was 2:00 a.m. I jumped out of bed, realizing the noise was my husband calling from the bathroom floor, where he was seated. “I . . . can’t . . . breathe,” he managed.
