Our throwback movie for Kaijubilation month was the first giant monster movie filmed in glorious TECHNICOLOR! Gorgo is a tale of an Irish Kaiju, stolen away by some filthy Brits and an American asshole to become a circus act and his mama’s struggle to free him from his colonial oppressors. Hailed as the British Godzilla, this film was directed by Eugene Lourie and stars William Sylvester (of 2001: A Space Odyssey fame) and Bill Travers, who looks an awful lot like a cross between Jesse “The Body” Ventura and Steven Seagal.
