Shay Williamson is a possum trapper and content creator from Whakatane in the Eastern Bay of Plenty. Shay's remarkable journey led him to the wilderness of Te Urewera at just 16, where he spent years mostly isolated from the modern world. This experience ignited a profound passion for the bush, nature, and subsistence living.

Later, Shay ventured to the South Island, spending about 5 years trapping possums in and around Fiordland National Park. During this time, he and his partner (now wife), Abby, began crafting YouTube videos. Their channel, "Keeping it Wild," emerged as a unique platform to share the beauty of the wilderness that Shay couldn't quite express in words.

"Keeping It Wild" boasts a strong following with nearly 5 million views. Today, Shay, alongside Abby and their two young kids, calls the Eastern Bay of Plenty home once more. Join us for this podcast episode to uncover his incredible journey.
