Frank and Jason are back with a fresh episode of The DFO Rundown and they started today’s show with some breaking news: the Pittsburgh Penguins Head Coach Mike Sullivan have parted ways. Where could Sullivan land? Who could the Penguins target as their next Head Coach? The guys answered all of that and more, including some talk about the possibility of University of Denver Head Coach David Carle making the jump to the NHL. They then went through all the other pieces of the league’s coaching carousel as there are more than a handful of openings and there could be even more coming. Rick Tocchet’s future in Vancouver is still up in the air, as is Patrick Roy’s on Long Island. There are plenty of teams looking for a new bench boss and that led the guys to rank the openings from around the league. Tyler then popped in for a new edition of Fill in the Blank where he got the guys talking about the wild weekend of Stanley Cup Playoff action. He asked about which teams should be feeling uneasy when it comes to their goaltending, the chances of some 3-1 comebacks & how the Oilers forced their way back into their series with the Kings. To wrap up, the guys talked about some other playoff headlines and what they’ll be watching this week. 1:00 - Sullivan & Penguins part ways 5:15 - David Carle’s future 8:05 - Tocchet & the Canucks 10:55 - Ranking the openings 30:55 - Fill in the Blank 46:00 - Playoff weekend recap 54:20 - Western series all tied up Want to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? Frank and Jason are back with a fresh episode of The DFO Rundown as they break down the first few games of every playoff series from around the league. They started out in Los Angeles where the Kings won both games at home and now have what feels like a commanding 2-0 series lead on the Edmonton Oilers, who don’t look anything like the team that went to game seven of the Stanley Cup Finals last season. Gregor broke down what he believes is plaguing the Oilers. Out East, the Senators are trailing the Maple Leafs 2-0 after the first two games in Toronto. Can Ottawa turn things around with the series shifting to the Canadian Tire Centre, or is this Leafs team different this year? They also hit on the Dallas Stars' stunning win over the Colorado Avalanche in Game 3, the Wild stealing a game in Vegas, and the Jets being up 2-0 on the Blues. Tyler then joined for Buy or Sell, where he asked the guys how many series will end in five games or less, Jim Rutherford’s comments about Quinn Hughes, and the Islanders' search for a new GM. To wrap up, they talked about the Rangers' decision to extend GM Chris Drury and the looming decision in Vancouver in regard to Head Coach Rick Tocchet. 1:10 - Kings lead Oilers 2-0 14:00 - Sens trail Leafs 2-0 18:30 - Stars stun Avs 22:55 - Wild & Golden Knights split first 2 31:15 - Panthers take Game 1 37:20 - Buy or Sell 48:50 - Rangers extend Drury Want to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? Frank and Jason are back with a fresh episode of The DFO Rundown as the Stanley Cup Playoffs are officially underway. We had five series kick off over the weekend so to begin today’s pod, the guys went through each of the results. They started with the Avalanche’s big win over the Stars. The Avs stars came to play, Mackenzie Blackwood shone in his first playoff game with the club, and Mikko Rantanen did not look like himself. Is this destined to be a quick series? The Wild, Devils, and Blues all fell behind 1-0 in their series with opening night road losses. Which one of those three are in the most trouble? The guys went through each series. They also talked about the Maple Leafs’ decisive Game 1 victory. They looked like a team who wasn’t phased by the Battle of Ontario storylines. Was Game 1 proof that this years Leafs’ team is different? They then stepped away from the playoff talk and talked about the coaching news around around the league. Both the Anaheim Ducks and New York Rangers fired their coaches over the weekend. Could David Carle be a fit in either one of those spots? They also looked at the tank for Gavin McKenna that could happen next season. Tyler then popped in for Fill in the Blank where he asked the guys about the Conn Smythe trophy odds and which one of their series predictions they’re most nervous about. They wrapped up with some talk about the Buffalo Sabres and the rest of the playoff series’ that haven’t gotten going yet. 1:25 - Avs take 1-0 lead 7:45 - Canes roll over the Devils 11:00 - Golden Knights go up on the Wild 14:30 - Leafs roll to a Game One victory 18:25 - Coaching Changes 28:00 - Tanking for McKenna 48:10 - Sabres to stand still? 52:00 - Remaining round one series Want to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? The playoff picture in the Western Conference is officially set as both the St. Louis Blues and Minnesota Wild punched their tickets to the postseason earlier in the week. With that, Jason and Frank previewed each of the four first round series that we’ll get and gave their picks for each one. Before they got into the playoff talk, they quickly talked about a few teams who’s 2024-25 seasons were disappointments including the Nashville Predators and Detroit Red Wings. They also talked about the San Jose Sharks season, which resulted in another last place finish but the guys talked about whether or not this year was actually a success. They then got into the two playoff series in the Central Division, starting with the much anticipated Stars and Avalanche matchup. The Stars are limping into the playoffs while the vibes in Colorado are immaculate with Captain Gabriel Landeskog expected to return to the lineup. Everyone seems to be picking the Avs, but are the Stars being a little overlooked? They also talked about the chances that the Winnipeg Jets make it a relatively short series against the St. Louis Blues. Can Hellebuyck find his form in the playoffs? Was the Blues heater a sign that they’re a legit threat to go on a run? Tyler then popped in for Fill in the Blank where he asked the guys about what the Flames could do this summer, Rick Tocchet’s future in Vancouver, the chances of the Predators moving a big contract, and what wild card teams could pull off an upset. From there, they got into the the Golden Knights vs Wild series, which both Gregor and Frank actually agreed on. They wrapped with a preview of ‘Oilers vs Kings Part 4’ and talked about whether or not this year’s Kings team is better positioned than ones in the past to finally slay the dragon and take down Connor McDavid and the Oilers. 1:30 - Disappointing seasons 6:50 - Are the Sharks getting closer? 11:00 - Stars vs Avalanche 21:30 - Jets vs Blues 25:15 - Buy or Sell 39:10 - Golden Knights vs Wild 46:40 - Oilers vs Kings Want to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? We are inching closer and closer to the Stanley Cup Playoffs and as the regular season comes to a close over the next few days, there is less and less on the line around the league. As a result, the four matchups in the Eastern Conference are basically all but locked up so today, Jason and Frank previewed each of the series. They started off with the battle between two Sunshine State rivals as the Florida Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning will meet in round one. It feels wrong that one of these two will have their season ended in just a few weeks, but the guys gave their picks. They then moved on to the Battle of Ontario as the Toronto Maple Leafs and Ottawa Senators will meet in round one. Are the Leafs finally ready to go on a deep run? Or could this pesky Sens team pull off an upset? Frank and Jason were actually split on this series. Tyler then popped in for Fill in the Blank, where he asked the guys about which eliminated team will look the most different next season and what Matthew Knies’ next deal could look like in Toronto. After that, they took a look at the two series in the Metro as the Canes will host the Devils in a series that Frank thinks could be a sweep. They also quickly talked about some potential goaltending decisions that a few teams will have to make before their playoff series begin. They also talked about the Montreal Canadiens’ chances of pulling off a major upset and taking down the conference leading Washington Capitals. The vibes are high in Montreal, but do they have the talent to beat a 100+ point team? 1:10 - Rangers officially eliminated 4:40 - Predictions gone wrong 12:20 - Tampa Bay vs Florida 20:40 - Toronto vs Ottawa 30:10 - Fill in the Blank 37:20 - Carolina vs New Jersey 46:15 - Washington vs Montreal Want to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? With Frank Seravalli away for the week, Jason Gregor was joined by Daily Faceoff Prospect analyst Steven Ellis for today’s episode of The DFO Rundown. There was a lot of Jason to get to with Steven, who is one of the best prospect analysts in the game, as over the last two weeks, we’ve seen a handful of big-name prospects make the jump from college and junior to the NHL. They kicked off the pod by talking about the New York Rangers handling of Gabe Perreault, who left college but has been sitting in the press box for his first few games with the Rangers. They also talked about what the Flames could do with Zayne Parekh, who could make his debut before the end of the season. They also touched on the Chicago Blackhawks' next wave of young talent, whether or not Zeev Buium will play in the playoffs with the Minnesota Wild, and how much of an impact Jimmy Snuggerud could have with the Blues. The biggest news of the week though came from Montreal as the Canadiens announced that 19-year-old Ivan Demidov, the 5th overall pick from the 2024 draft, will be coming over from the KHL to join the team for their playoff run. Steven talked about his potential to be a true superstar and whether or not he can make an immediate impact with the club. Tyler then joined for a new edition of Buy or Sell where he asked the guys about a handful of teams who have been officially eliminated from the playoffs, the first confirmed playoff matchup, and whose stock Steven is buying ahead of the 2025 draft. To wrap, they talked about the insane season that Gavin McKenna is having with Medicine Hat and where he could end up next season. 2:45 - The playoff picture 4:00 - The Rangers' handling of Gabe Perreault 6:20 - The Flames with Parekh & Suniev 14:05 - Blackhawks' next wave of talent 18:05 - The Wild & Buium 21:00 - Demidov comes to Montreal 24:10 - Blues & Snuggerud 27:25 - European free agents 33:30 - Buy or Sell 43:30 - Gavin McKenna Want to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? After a historic weekend in the NHL, Frank and Jason decided to record this week’s edition of the podcast a little earlier. The two fired things up on a Sunday night to talk about Alex Ovechkin finishing his chase of the NHL’s all-time goal record as he found the back of the net for the 895th time and officially passed Wayne Gretzky at the top of the goal-scoring leaderboard. The guys talked about the moment on Long Island, the ceremony, Ovechkin’s career and everything else surrounding the record-breaking moment. From there, they talked about some other records and accomplishments that they’re love to see get accomplished. From Sidney Crosby to Connor McDavid to Cale Makar, there are some players who have a chance to do some pretty special things. That also led to some talk about just how much longer Crosby and Ovechkin will even be in the league. They also talked about some goal records that could be accomplished and some that are just way too crazy to be matched. Tyler then popped in for a new edition of Buy or Sell where he asked the guys about the Calgary Flames playoff chances both this year and beyond and also the playoff races in each conference. They wrapped up by talking about the memorabilia craze that followed Ovechkin’s chase of the record and they took a quick look at the two playoff races in either conference. 0:55 - Ovi sets the record 24:50 - Other records to watch 27:05 - How much longer does Sid have? 36:30 - Buy or Sell 43:30 - The memorabilia blitz 51:30 - Habs punch their ticket Want to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? To kick off today’s edition of the DFO Rundown, Jason and Frank talked about last night’s wild finish between the Washington Capitals and Carolina Hurricanes. There were over 140 penalty minutes in the game, but the moment that had everyone talking was Jalen Chatfield’s takedown of Connor McMichael during their fight. Did Chatfield go too far and could he face supplemental discipline? The guys debated that. From there, they talked about whether or not this Hurricanes team is built well enough to go on a deep playoff run. They also talked about the Maple Leafs heading into the playoffs and the Boston Bruins free fall in the final month of the season. That led to some draft talk and Frank has some ideas on how the league can improve the draft process. With the changes coming to the way that the NCAA allows players in, Frank thinks that now is the perfect time for them to change how the draft works. He explained his thought process and the trickle down effect that it would have on other leagues while Gregor poked some holes in his ideas. Tyler then popped in for a new edition of Fill in the Blank, where he asked the guys about the Art Ross trophy, Mitch Marner’s next contract, and the Cup Contender that they’re least bullish on. To wrap, Gregor talked about Gavin McKenna’s remarkable run in the WHL and where he could play next season. The tank for McKenna next season could be unlike any we’ve seen in the last 10 years. 1:15 - Chatfield vs McMichael fight 9:50 - Can the Canes go on a run? 12:00 - Leafs clinch playoff spot 19:25 - Bruins free fall 21:40 - Frank’s Draft plans 38:20 - Fill in the Blank Want to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? The DFO Rundown

Frank and Jason return with a new installment of the DFO Rundown. To get things started, they broke down the playoff picture in the West. The St Louis Blues are running away with the final wildcard spot as they continue a hot streak. The guys comment on if they have played their way into serious contender consideration. The Wild could be getting Kirill Kaprizov and Joel Eriksson Ek back from injury before the playoffs. The guys commented on the Wild’s playoff chances and the impact of a player like Kaprizov. What kind of contract extension will he sign? Frank thinks it could be one of the biggest contracts in the league. As they continue to analyze potential playoff teams and matchups, they focus on both Conference leaders. The Jets have had a spectacular regular season, but they’ve done that before. The guys ponder if they will be able to translate that success and make a deep playoff run. On the other side, the Capitals have lost 3 straight. The guys talked about how some adversity could be good for a team that has been so dominant this year. Staying on the east, the guys analyzed the tight playoff race. The Canadiens are holding on to a wildcard spot. Can they get across the line? The Blue Jackets continue to stay in the picture too, as the guys give their takes on who gets the last spot in the east. The guys also looked at some teams at the bottom of the standings. The Sabres have been sneakily hot to end the year. Frank gives his thoughts on if they should blow it up and rebuild regardless. The Blackhawks and Sharks continue to fight for the best lottery odds. The guys also speculate what Ryan Donato’s next contract looks like. The guys moved on to Hart talks and the dominance of Leon Draisaitl. Is there any chance he doesn't win it? The guys give their thoughts and list some dark horses. Pat popped in for Buy or Sell where he asked the guys about the Art Ross Race, Atlantic Division, and how deep the blues can go in the playoffs. To wrap it up, the guys looked at the Vegas Golden Knights, who continue to play well and lead the Pacific. Frank wonders if there is any team better prepared to contend than them. 1:44 West Wildcard 9:03 Conference Leaders (Jets & Capitals) 13:08 East Wildcard 16:11 The Bottom (Sabres, Sharks & Blackhawks) 25:17 Hart Race 31:51 Buy or Sell 36:47 Golden Knights Want to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? The DFO Rundown

To kick off a fresh episode of The DFO Rundown, Jason and Frank talked about the big breaking news of the day: John Tortorella is out as the Head Coach of the Philadelphia Flyers. Tortorella was in the third season of a four-year deal and the Flyers were having their worst season since he was hired. The guys broke down why the Flyers made this decision, debated whether or not his comments from earlier this week had anything to do with it, and discussed where the Flyers will go from here. Frank made the case that they are the team that is the furthest away from being Stanley Cup contenders. They then turned their attention to some other coaching situations around the league and talked about the cycle of hiring re-tread coaches in the league. Could that start to change? Frank talked about how organizations might need to change their mindsets when it comes to coaching. Tyler then popped in for a new edition of Fill in the Blank where he asked the guys about the playoff race in the West and the chances that not only the Calgary Flames get in, but the Minnesota Wild fall out of things. He also asked a question about which defensemen outside of Quinn Hughes and Cale Makar have a shot at the Norris Trophy in the next decade. 1:00 - The Torts era ends 7:00 - What’s the future like in Philadelphia? 16:30 - The Coaching Market 33:10 - Fill in the Blank (Flames, Wild & future Norris wins) Want to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? The DFO Rundown

Frank and Jason are back with a fresh episode of The DFO Rundown. To start things off today, they started talking about the idea that the NHL could potentially be once again looking at expansion. There has been lots of chatter about both Atlanta and Houston as cities that the league could potentially have interest in, but does going to 34 teams make sense? The guys gave their takes on that and Frank tried to explain why the league could want to get this done. They also had some fun tossing around the idea of relegation coming as well. From there, they talked about the Western Wild Card race as the St. Louis Blues continued their hot-streak and now control their own playoff destiny. Their turnaround this season also came after they hired Jim Montgomery, who came over from Boston. That led to some talk about how far away the Bruins are and if that front-office is going to make this through the summer. That conversation naturally turned to another front office that could be seeing some big changes this summer: the Buffalo Sabres. What’s the appetite for change in Buffalo? Frank gave some insight. Tyler then popped in for Buy or Sell where he asked a little bit more about front offices that could be changing, the future of the Sharks and Blackhawks, and the Hart Trophy race. To wrap up, they talked a bit about the Jets managing Connor Hellebuycks' workload and if the Jets are leaning too hard on him. They also talked about whether or not the Caps or Jets are better built for a long playoff run. 0:40 - Expansion 13:55 - Blues red hot run 16:10 - Bruins front office 25:30 - Sabres & Kevyn Adams 32:30 - Buy or Sell 43:20 - Hellebuyck’s workload Want to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? Frank and Jason are back for an all new edition of The DFO Rundown as Frank returned from the NHL’s GM Meetings. To start the podcast, they talked about the NHL’s penalty problem as Frank had a chance to ask some General Managers about the research that Jason did on the drop in penalties this season. Will the league do something to address this? Will they even admit there’s a problem? From there, they talked about what was discussed between the 32 GM’s earlier this week, starting with the future of the NHL All-Star Game. As it sits right now, there is a game scheduled for right before the 2026 Olympics, but could that change? Frank gave us the latest. They then talked about what could be on the negotiating table as the two sides sit down and try to find labour peace ahead of 2025. There seems to be a pretty high level of confidence that the two sides will be able to figure things out without much struggle. Tyler then popped in for Fill in the Blank, where he asked the guys about a couple of future record chases that the NHL could be seeing in the next decade and the chances of either Winnipeg or Washington going on a heater and getting to the 120-point mark this season. Frank and Jason are back with a fresh episode of The DFO Rundown as the NHL’s playoff race continues to heat up. To start today’s show, they looked at some trade deadline additions that are fitting in nicely with their new clubs and a few that are off the rougher starts. That led them to some talk about the Eastern Conference playoff race. The Senators seem to have all but locked up their spot in the Stanley Cup Playoffs but the eighth seed is still wide open. The Rangers are the betting odds favourites on Bet365 but both the Canadiens and Blue Jackets are right there in the mix. They also quickly touched on the Pittsburgh Penguins heater and how it’s costing them valuable spots in the NHL’s Draft Lottery standings. They then went out West, where Leon Draisaitl is on the verge of another 50-goal season. Jason talked about the significance of that while Frank wondered if Draisaitl has the Hart Trophy locked up or if Nathan MacKinnon should be getting more consideration. After that, Jason talked about his latest research project which is centred around the stunning drop in powerplays around the NHL. The numbers are jaw-dropping and led to the guys trying to figure out exactly why they have fallen as hard as they have. To wrap, Tyler popped in for a new edition of Buy or Sell where he asked the guys about the Senators chances of getting a divisional playoff spot, the Jack Adams award, and the upcoming NHL GM Meetings. 1:00 - Trade deadline early returns 5:25 - Eastern playoff race 8:55 - Penguins heater 11:40 - Draisaitl chase for 50 & the Hart 24:20 - Powerplay drop off 32:30 - Buy or Sell (GM Meetings, Jack Adams, Senators heater) Want to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? Jason and Frank are back with a fresh edition of the podcast, in which they put a bow on their trade deadline coverage by grading what all the sellers did last Friday. Frank kicked things off with a spicy take and gave which trade he thinks could be this year’s version of the infamous Filip Forsberg for Martin Erat trade. From there, they talked about how they felt teams like the Penguins, Bruins, and Sharks did when it came to selling off assets. They also hit on the New Jersey Devils, who became ‘soft buyers’ with the injury to Jack Hughes. The guys talked about whether or not they should have sold off. The conversation about the Sharks eventually turned into a Connor Bedard vs Macklin Celebrini comparison as Gregor talked about the overuse of the ‘generational’ title and Frank talked about Bedard’s path to having a MacKinnon-esque career. They also talked about the Seattle Kraken and Philadelphia Flyers, who both sold off some assets on Friday, before quickly talking about two teams out West that stood still during the deadline period but still find themselves right in the middle of the playoff race. Tyler Yaremchuk then popped in for a new edition of Fill in the Blank, brought to you by Bet365. He asked the guys about one playoff matchup that they would want to lock in, the Flames playoff chances, and potential summer shake-ups. 1:10 - Erat trade 2.0? 3:45 - Penguins returns 9:10 - Bruins deadline deals 14:00 - The Devils moves 19:30 - Were the Sharks A+ sellers? 30:22 - Grading the Kraken 36:20 - Utah vs St. Louis 40:30 - Fill in the Blank Want to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? Jason and Frank are back with a new episode of The DFO Rundown as the dust has settled on all of the drama that we got on deadline day. To kick things off, they talked about one of the trades that didn’t happen on Friday: Mitch Marner to Carolina. How close was a deal and what does this mean for Marner’s future with the Toronto Maple Leafs? Frank gave some insight into that and the guys talked about what kind of deal he could get if he hits free agency this summer. From there, they talked about the Mikko Rantanen deal. The fit with Dallas makes a lot of sense, but what about the two teams that have traded him this season? Both the Hurricanes and Avalanche have undergone some massive roster surgery over the last few months, but are they better today? They also talked about the very steep price that the Avalanche paid for Brock Nelson, gave some extra context to why the Hurricanes had to move on from Rantanen, and the Brad Marchand stunner that came in right at the buzzer. Tyler then popped in for Buy or Sell where he asked the guys about the Stanley Cup odds, the chances of a deadline rental signing back with his former team on July 1, and the Devils deadline activity. To wrap things up, they talked about the Cozens for Norris deal and what the teams in the Pacific Division got up to at the deadline. 0:53 - Marner’s future 4:30 - How Rantanen landed in Dallas 7:00 - The Avs overhaul 12:00 - The Canes return 26:00 - Marchand goes to Boston 45:20 - Buy or Sell (Stanley Cup odds & NJD) 55:50 - Norris for Cozens 1:04:10 - Oilers, Kings & Golden Knights 1:09:20 - The Canucks deadline Want to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? Jason Gregor and Frank Seravalli did a special LIVE Trade Deadline preview to get ready for what should be a wild 24 hours around the NHL. As we approach deadline day, there is a new number one on Frank’s Trade Targets board as Mikko Rantanen has rocketed up the board. Where could he land? Will the Hurricanes even move him? The guys gave their takes. From there, they talked about what the New Jersey Devils could do now that they’ll be without Jack Hughes for the remainder of the regular season and playoffs. Some thought it could lead to them being sellers, but Frank threw cold water on that idea. They also talked about the series of trades we saw yesterday which included the Tampa Bay Lightning making another massive splash and the Pittsburgh Penguins making a puzzling trade with the Nashville Predators. Could Pittsburgh flip the assets that they got? Tyler then popped on for a special edition of Fill in the Blank that was fueled solely by questions from the live chat. They talked about a potential deal between the Avs and Flames, what the Blue Jackets could get up to, and the chances of Brock Nelson heading to Winnipeg. To wrap, they went through some Western Conference teams that could make some noise in the next 24 hours. What could teams like the Oilers and Wild get up to? With less than a week to go until the NHL Trade Deadline, we finally saw some trade action over the weekend as a couple of major moves went down. To start, the Florida Panthers made a big splash, acquiring Seth Jones from the Chicago Blackhawks. How significantly did the Panthers change their chances of repeating as Stanley Cup Champions? Did the Blackhawks make a mistake by retaining money? The guys talked about the deal from both sides. They also hit on the deal that saw Ryan Lindgren end up in Colorado as the New York Rangers continued to sell off their pending UFAs. The Avalanche needed some help on the blueline, but will he be enough? Also, could the Rangers turn their attention to adding now that most of their free agents have been offloaded? From there, they dug into Frank’s latest Trade Targets board that features a whole bunch of players from the New York Islanders and Seattle Kraken. Will those two teams commit to fully selling off? Frank says it would be a mistake not too. They also touched on deadline plans for the Vancouver Canucks and New Jersey Devils. Tyler then popped in for a new edition of Buy or Sell where he asked the guys about some other deadline situations like who could load up in the Pacific Division, the St. Louis Blues deadline plans, and what the Maple Leafs could get up to. 0:55 - Jones lands in Florida 8:40 - Avs acquire Lindgren 10:55 - What could the Rangers do? 13:30 - New Trade Targets 31:15 - What’s the plan in Vancouver? 37:30 - Will the Devils be aggressive? With only eight days until the NHL Trade Deadline, Frank Seravalli and Jason went through the Western Conference and what they believe each team could get up to in the next week. They start by discussing the Schenn brothers and the possibility of them both moving at the deadline – and maybe even reuniting for a playoff run. The Winnipeg Jets are trending to be big dogs heading into the playoffs. But will they be able to add to their winning culture, or will they ride the hot hand and stay put? On the flip side, the Seattle Kraken are on Year 5 and still don't seem to be trending in the right direction. What could they do to flip the script? Frank addresses the rumors surrounding Seth Jones and his connections to the Dallas Stars. They also dive into his comments to the media the other day about being unhappy with the Blackhawks' play after a disappointing loss to Utah. Taking a look into the Colorado Avalanche and their deadline plans, Frank and Jason chat about Gabriel Landeskog's health. They then talk about Minnesota's future and the need to boost their center position and powerplay. They believe Bill Guerin should look into Brock Nelson at the deadline. They then move over to the Pacific Division, starting with the L.A. Kings. How do they finally take the next step in the postseason? Could Mikko Rantanen be available and could he end up in Los Angeles? Frank then dives into the Utah Hockey Club and believes they could still make a serious push for the playoffs. Will Karel Vejmelka be moved at the deadline and if they don't make the playoffs does that guarantee a change of pace between the pipes? The guys dive into Calgary's deadline plans and what the Vancouver Canucks may be looking to do, Frank believes the Canucks would be open to almost anything thrown their way and are actively shopping Carson Soucy. Ty was sick, so Producer Patrick jumps in to ask a couple fill in the blanks questions for bet365. They talk about Schenn Brothers, the team most likely to make a big splash at the deadline and the best defenseman to be moved in the next week. Last, but not least, the guys took a look at the Edmonton Oilers and what Stan Bowman could do before the deadline to boost this team's chances. Frank recently spoke with Stan Bowman in his latest episode of Frankly Speaking. They finished off the podcast chatting about the Stadium Series between the Detroit Red Wings and Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday. Want to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? With the 4Nations Faceoff now firmly in the rearview mirror, Jason and Frank returned for a new episode of The DFO Rundown. To kick off the show, they looked at some of the injury news that came out of the NHL’s mid-season tournament as some teams will now be without some star players as they head down the stretch. There is some drama around the Charlie McAvoy situation, which Frank said was ridiculous, but the Bruins now look like they could be sellers. They have some intriguing rentals but the big question is whether or not they will trade Brad Marchand or one of their defensemen with term. Matt Tkachuk is going to miss some time for the Florida Panthers after sustaining an injury at the 4Nations Face-Off, could that change their deadline plans? GM Bill Zito doesn’t have a lot of assets or a lot of cap space, but he’s known to be a creative GM. Frank talked about what they could add. They also hit on the Mikko Rantanen situation in Carolina, the New Jersey Devils' plans and whether or not the Washington Capitals will go all-in at the deadline. Tyler then popped in for a new edition of Buy or Sell where he asked the guys about the goaltending situations with the Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks. After a little bit of drama on the final day of round-robin play, the hockey world is going to get what it’s wanted all along: a rematch between Canada and USA in the final of the 4Nations Face-Off. The Americans are looking to prove that they are the number one hockey country in world while the Canadians are looking to prove that the loss last Saturday was just a one-off. They started the podcast by talking about some breaking news from earlier today as Team USA learned that they will be without defenceman Charlie McAvoy. Who could replace him? The guys shared their thoughts on that and also talked about whether or not Auston Matthews and the Tkachuk brothers are going to be able to play. They also talked about the atmosphere at TD Garden in Boston as things shift south of the border. Will there be boos? Will there be fights? Will there be more offence? They went through all the big factors that will come into play on Thursday night. Tyler then popped in for a new edition of Fill in the Blank, brought to you by Bet365, where he asked the guys for their MVP picks depending on if Canada or USA gets the win on Thursday. Today on the podcast, Jason Gregor was joined by his usual running mate Frank Seravalli, who was live in Montreal for the 4Nations Face-Off, where things are starting to heat up! The tournament opener created some interesting questions for Team Canada. Where will Travis Sanheim slot in and can he replace Shea Theodore? Should Head Coach Jon Cooper change up his forward lines? And of course, the big one: should Jordan Binnington continue being the starter? The guys gave their take. On the American side of things, it was the ‘Tkachuk Show’ on Thursday night as Brady and Matthew absolutely took over the game during USA’s 6-1 win over Team Finland. Team USA certainly has some swagger, but can they keep it rolling on Saturday night against Team Canada? From there, they talked about the booing of the American national anthem, the league's change to a ten-minute 3v3 overtime, the 3-2-1-0 point system, Sidney Crosby’s performance in game one and other big headlines from the first 48 hours of the tournament. Tyler then popped in for Buy or Sell where he asked the guys about which players impressed in their first game in Montreal and what deadline deals they’d like to see happening. The guys wrapped up with some talk about Frank’s annual Trade Deadline Matchmaker article where he looked at some potential fits for some of his trip deadline targets. He had names that he thinks would fit on teams like the Winnipeg Jets, Dallas Stars, and Edmonton Oilers. 4:20 - Canada’s goaltending situation 9:05 - The Tkachuk’s big night 17:05 - The Bell Centre boos 24:19 - Sweden’s big point 28:40 - Crosby’s performance 33:00 - Buy or Sell 40:00 - Trade Matchmaker Want to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? Frank Seravalli is live in Montreal for the 4Nations Faceoff as the hockey world will see close to true best-on-best hockey for the first time in close to a decade. Most of the best players in the world are here and with the tournament kicking off on Wednesday, Jason and Frank went through some of the big storylines for each of the four countries taking part. Finland has lost a handful of key blueliners in the weeks leading up to the event and now they have a defense corp that is barely NHL level, nevermind up to par with the other groups in the tournament. Can they overcome that? Sweden is third on the odds board by a pretty significant margin, but do they deserve more respect? A lot of attention is given to the Swedes strong blueline which features a handful of future Hall of Famers but as Frank says, don’t sleep on their forward group, which has some elite scorers playing in the bottom six. USA got dealt a big injury blow with the absence of Quinn Hughes but their blueline is still deep and their forward group has some elite talent at the top. They also have the best goaltender in the tournament in Connor Hellebuyck. Will that be the difference maker? Finally, they talked about the duo of Connor McDavid and Nathan MacKinnon as they will look to compete on the same team for the first time since they came to the NHL. Sidney Crosby is there too after a brief injury scare. Canada’s depth is unmatched but the big question mark comes between the pipes. After they finished going through all four teams, Tyler popped in for a 4Nations themed edition of Fill in the Blank where he asked the guys about who could lead the tournament in scoring and more. To wrap, they quickly hit on a few NHL stories like what the Dallas Stars could do with the LTIR space they’re getting with Miro Heiskanen. 4:00 - Finlands injuries 8:30 - Sweden’s chances 10:30 - USA without Quinn Hughes 19:00 - Canada’s big guns 27:20 - Fill in the Blank 33:50 - Stars, their LTIR space & Seth Jones Want to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? After his week-long hiatus, Jason Gregor returned to the podcast as he and Frank Seravalli were re-united for episode 357. To begin the pod, Gregor finally got a chance to give his take on the Mikko Rantanen trade and that led to some talk about whether or not he thinks Rantanen will eventually extend in Carolina. From there, they talked about a few other things that Gregor missed over the last 10 days including the big salary cap increases that are coming over the next few seasons. That led Frank to start wondering what the Jets will end up doing with Kyle Connor, who is eligible to sign an extension this summer. The guys debated whether or not he’s considered an elite player and then threw around some contract comparables. They also talked about the Jets deadline plans & the recent player poll that saw a high percentage of players say the Jets are the spot they’d least like to play. Tyler then popped in for a new edition of Buy or Sell where he asked the guys about Marcus Pettersson’s extension in Vancouver, the chances of either Bowen Byram or Casey Mittelstadt being traded for a second straight trade deadline and what the Los Angeles Kings and Rob Blake need to do ahead of March 7th. To wrap up the show, they stayed in the Pacific Divsion and talked about the Vegas Golden Knight’s struggles. Jack Eichel has been scoring but their team is very top heavy and Frank wondered if that will change with the addition of Brandon Saad. They also touched on what the Oilers could be looking to accomplish ahead of the deadline. Frank also gave his Super Bowl prediction for his Philadelphia Eagles. 1:20 - Rantanen’s future 18:00 - Kyle Connor’s future 27:40 - Jets deadline plans 36:00 - Buy or Sell (Pettersson extension, Byram/Mittelstadt, Kings deadline plans) 47:55 - Golden Knights struggles 51:50 - Oilers need for speed 57:00 - Brock Nelson update Want to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? Frank is back with a fresh episode of The DFO Rundown and with Jason Gregor still on holidays, he was joined today by Craig Button from TSN. The two of them kicked things off by talking about the first of three big trades from the weekend: the JT Miller trade. It felt inevitable that Miller would end up back in New York and finally after weeks of rumours, the Canucks pulled the trigger on the deal. They got back a decent return that included a first-round pick, which their front office promptly flipped to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for defenseman Marcus Pettersson and forward Drew O’Connor. The guys broke down how Miller has looked back in a Rangers jersey and also the Canucks decision to add Pettersson. They also talked about Elias Pettersson’s future in Vancouver and whether or not the Canucks are set on keeping him, or if they could have another big trade up their sleeves. The Canucks weren’t the only team who made a big splash this weekend either. The Dallas Stars acquired Mikael Granlund and Cody Ceci from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for a package of draft picks. The guys talked about whether or not this was the right move by the Stars considering how much cap they took on and they also touched on the job that Sharks GM Mike Grier is doing as he continues to rebuild his roster. Tyler then popped in for a new edition of Fill in the Blank where he asked the guys about the Rangers' playoff chances, Casey Mittelstadt's availability and how many games Ryan Hartman will get. Frank’s week of rotating co-hosts continued today as he was joined by Pete Blackburn of What Chaos! In the first part of the show, they went through all the teams that are currently existing in the mushy middle of the Eastern Conference. There are eight teams that all have convinced themselves to some extent that they are capable of making the playoffs and yet none of these teams have gone on any sort of a run that would lead you to believe that they’re front runners in the race for one of the final two wild card spots. Frank and Pete went through every team and gave the case for and against them making the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Frank is high on the New York Rangers while Pete thinks that teams like Montreal and Columbus should do everything they can to help out their young cores and shouldn’t sell off. Frank also mixed in a quick update on the Vancouver Canucks and the JT Miller rumblings. They also talked about how he could fit in with teams like the Boston Bruins and New York Rangers. Tyler then popped on for a new edition of Buy or Sell where he asked the boys about the new name for the Utah Hockey Club, how many pieces the Canucks could move before the deadline, and the rumours swirling around Kings defenseman Brandt Clarke. What a weekend in the NHL. We saw one of the biggest in-season trades in the history of the league as the Colorado Avalanche sent superstar forward Mikko Rantanen to the Carolina Hurricanes for a package that includes Martin Necas. Frank Seravalli, the man who broke the trade, sat down with ESPN National Hockey Writer Ryan S. Clark to break down every angle of this deal. What led the Avalanche to the point where they felt like they had to deal one of the best forwards in the NHL? Frank gave some insight into that. Was this the right move? That was the big question that Frank and Ryan struggled with. The guys dissected the package that GM Chris MacFarland got in return and they talked about how Rantanen will fit in with the Hurricanes and whether or not they can keep him long-term. After that, Tyler popped in for a new edition of Fill in the Blank where he asked the guys about Rantanen’s future, the chance that we see another blockbuster this season, and Alex Pietrangelo bowing out of the 4Nations Faceoff. Jason Gregor and Frank Seravalli are back with a fresh episode of The DFO Rundown as they took a look back at everything that went down over the weekend in the NHL. The big story is the end of the Oilers vs Canucks game on Saturday night as both Connor McDavid and Tyler Myers were ejected for cross-checks to the head of an opponent. Both now have hearings with the NHL DOPS, but should they be suspended the same number of games? The guys debated that and had a bigger picture conversation about the state of officiating in the league. They then got into the John Klingberg signing. Gregor gave some insight into where he could slot into the lineup and they talked about whether or not Klingberg can find his game with the Oilers. They then got into what’s been going down over in the Eastern Conference. The Devils and Bruins are both slipping with the New York Rangers starting to find their game. They talked about the recent hot streak for New York and dug into some of their concerns with what’s happening in New Jersey. That led to some conversation about the Simon Nemec comments. He didn’t ask for a trade, but he wants to play in the NHL and the Devils have a loaded right-side of their blueline. Could something give there? Frank gave his thoughts. They also talked about Kappo Kakko’s hot start to his Kraken career. The guys had a contentious debate a few weeks ago when the trade first went down so they revisited their conversation and their thoughts on the deal. Tyler then popped in for a new edition of Fill in the Blank where he asked the guys about best fits for JT Miller, the playoff chances for the Montreal Canadiens, and whether or not Jeff Skinner will finish out the year in Edmonton. They wrapped with some talk about potential injury replacements for the 4 Nations Faceoff with guys like Jason Robertson and Zach Hyman both shooting the lights out. 1:10 - McDavid & Myers face hearings 14:40 - John Klingberg signs in Edmonton 17:55 - Eastern playoff picture 20:50 - Concern in New Jersey? 32:30 - Kakko & The Kraken 35:40 - Fill in the Blank (JT Miller, Habs playoff chances, Skinner in Edmonton) 47:00 - 4 Nations Injury Replacements Want to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? Jason Gregor and Frank Seravalli are back with a fresh episode of The DFO Rundown as they went around the league and talked about some of the big stories that have developed over the last week. They started things off by talking about the Pittsburgh Penguins' decision to place veteran goalie Tristan Jarry on waivers. He’s just a few years removed from signing a long-term extension with the club and while he hasn’t performed up to that contract this season, both Frank and Jason took issue with the Penguins using him as a scapegoat. That led to a bigger-picture conversation about what Dubas has done since taking over as General Manager. From one of the worst stories in the league to one of the best, the guys then looked at the Columbus Blue Jackets, who are currently in a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Kirill Marchenko and Zach Werenski have both been spectacular and the team is playing unreal hockey. Can they hold onto this playoff spot? Tyler then popped in for a new edition of Buy or Sell where he asked the guys about where John Klingberg could potentially sign, the Chicago Blackhawks deadline plans, and whether or not Kyle Dubas will be around when the Penguins finally get back to the playoffs, whenever that might be. To wrap things up, they talked about Connor Hellebuyck running away with the Vezina Trophy and how much pressure the Winnipeg Jets are facing this year to go on a deep playoff run. 1:10 - Penguins waive Jarry 15:30 - Blue Jackets keep rolling 24:00 - Buy or Sell (Klingberg, Hawks deadline plans, Dubas’ future) 42:10 - Hellebuyck & the Jets 47:00 - Frustration in Toronto Want to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? Frank and Jason are back with a fresh episode of The DFO Rundown to go through everything that went down over the weekend around the NHL. To start off the show, they talked about Cutter Gauthier’s much-anticipated return to Philadelphia. The Flyers faithful treated him exactly how you’d expect them to and the players definitely wanted to get their shots in. Frank was in the building and gave his take on it. They then talked about the Eastern playoff picture which is continuing to stay tight. It seems like every week there’s a new team stepping up and getting hot and right now, that team is the Detroit Red Wings. Jason gave his thoughts on how they’ve looked since making their coaching change. They also talked a bit about the Columbus Blue Jackets. Tyler then popped in for a new edition of Buy or Sell where he asked the guys about the final playoff spot in the West, which spiralled into an interesting conversation about the future of the St. Louis Blues. He also got their take on the top teams in the Metro Division and the Sabres’ chances of moving two young stars before the deadline. As the trade deadline continues to inch closer and closer and after Frank dropped his latest trade targets board last week, the guys decided to play a little deadline matchmaker and pick out a few good landing spots for Frank’s top targets. 1:20 - Philly welcomes back Gauthier 12:30 - The Red Wings heater & the Eastern playoffs 17:35 - Blue Jackets deadline plans 27:45 - Fill in the Blank 41:00 - Canucks Deadline matchmaker 47:00 - Landing spots for the top targets 1:01:00 - The Oilers & their blueline Want to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? Jason and Frank are back with a fresh episode of the DFO Rundown as they began to sink their teeth into the trade with market. With the deadline now less than two months away, things are only going to continue heating up. To start today’s pod, the guys talked about the Boston Bruins continued struggles. They’ve already made a coaching change this season, but do they need to find another way to shake things up? The guys debated that and it eventually led them to trying to figure out if the Bruins could find a way to get one Elias Pettersson or JT Miller from the Vancouver Canucks. Frank has an all new version of his Trade Targets board that is headlined by Islanders forward Brock Nelson. They discussed some potential landing spots for him and some other names in Frank’s top 25, like Sabres centre Dylan Cozens. Which teams will be buyers or sellers is still up in the air a little bit, but there are some very interesting teams around the league. One of them is the Washington Capitals, their first half of the season would lead you to believe that they should be all in, but would they be willing to disrupt the chemistry that their group currently has? Tyler then popped in for a new edition of Buy or Sell where he asked the guys about the players on pace for 100-points, the Norris race, and what both the Rangers and Islanders could sell off at the deadline. 3:40 - Are the Bruins a playoff team? 14:40 - Are Boston & Vancouver good trade partners? 21:00 - What’s the market for Dylan Cozens? 24:30 - Nelson headlines trade targets board 31:20 - What could the Capitals do? 46:05 - Buy or Sell (Rangers, Islanders, Werenski, 100-pt players) Want to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? Frank and Jason are back with another episode of The DFO Rundown following a headline-filled weekend in the world of hockey. To kick things off, they talked about the World Juniors where Team USA captured gold for the second straight year. It’s the first time that the USA has accomplished that feat, which led to some talk about how they’re becoming a dominant hockey nation. They also talked about Finland’s impressive run and what’s wrong with Hockey Canada. They also raved about a few of the prospects that really showed out in the tournament, a handful of which are all property of the Washington Capitals. From there, the guys talked about the Auston Matthews injury and how cautious the Leafs should be with their franchise player. The Anaheim Ducks have been making waves recently with their play on the ice and on Sunday, they signed Frank Vatrano to a pretty unique extension. While lots of people were applauding it, Frank had a bit of a different view. Tyler then popped in for a new edition of Fill in the Blank where he asked about Leon Draisaitl’s Hart Trophy odds, the Canucks conundrum with their star players, and the Montreal Canadiens' recent heater. To wrap up, Frank had a few more thoughts on Pettersson vs Miller and the guys talked about the Devils' recent struggles and the Golden Knights surge. 3:30 - USA wins the World Juniors 21:00 - Matthews injury situation 26:15 - Ducks' recent run & the Vatrano extension 38:55 - Fill in the Blank (Canucks drama, Draisaitl for the Hart, Habs hot streak) 57:54 - Pettersson vs Miller 59:40 - Devils struggle & Golden Knights run Want to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? After a brief holiday break, the boys are back with a fresh episode of The DFO Rundown and while the league was dormant for most of the last week, there was still plenty to get to today on the pod. To kick things off, Jason and Frank talked about the Detroit Red Wings’ decision to make a coaching change. For the just the second time in franchise history, the team has made an in-season coaching change and the guys debated if the teams' struggles had anything to do with the coach or if there is a bigger problem with the way that the roster in constructed. That led to some talk about the Eastern Conference playoff picture and the play of the Ottawa Senators. The Senators front office nailed some big moves this summer, some of which weren’t viewed very positively at the time, while the moves that the Red Wings have made just haven’t worked out. Of course, the eight seed in the East is really only open because the New York Rangers continue to struggle. Should they be the next to make a coaching change? Jason and Frank debated that and then had a conversation about how much of the blame should lay at the feet of GM Chris Drury. They then went out West and talked about the run that the Los Angeles Kings have been on. Should Jim Hiller be in the conversation for the Jack Adams? Why aren’t more people talking about the insane season that 37-year-old Anze Kopitar is putting together? There are plenty of intriguing storylines out in Hollywood. Tyler then popped in for a new edition of Buy or Sell where he asked the guys about the who the best team in the East is, the Calder trophy odds, and Alex OVechkin’s chase of the all time goal record. They then wrapped up with some talk about a few milestones that were hit over the weekend. 0:55 - Red Wings fire Lalonde 6:27 - The Eastern playoff picture 16:55 - Are the Rangers dead? 28:40 - The Kings recent run 41:05 - Buy or Sell 49:00 - Weekend Milestones You can get involved with all the NHL futures action over on bet365 by using the promo code NATION at bet365.com Connect with us on ⬇️ Twitter Instagram Website Daily Faceoff Merch Hosted on Acast. Jason Gregor and Frank Seravalli sat down for one last podcast before their Christmas Break and to kick things off, they talked about some of their favourite winter activities and Gregor tried to sell Frank on a few that he hasn’t tried yet like snowshoeing and going on a dog sled. They then got into the big drama that’s happening with the Vancouver Canucks. The rift between JT Miller and Elias Pettersson has really caught the publics attention but Frank says that this is nothing new. Could it get to the point where the Canucks need to move on from one of the two players for the sake of their locker room? Frank gave his thoughts. From there, they talked about some teams that are heading in totally different directions in the month of December. The Dallas Stars have been ice cold of late and while injuries have played a part, the guys discussed if there’s something off with the Stars this season. The Ottawa Senators are not looking like the Senators of old. They’ve found another gear and for the first time in a number of years, have avoided their dreaded mid-season slump. They also talked about Matt Rempe getting an eight-game suspension for his hit over the weekend. Tyler the popped in for Fill in the Blank which features some talk about Christmas shopping and then questions about Patrik Laine, the Buffalo Sabres, and the Utah Hockey club and their playoff chances. 5:25 - The drama in Vancouver 12:15 - Dallas’ December Dip 15:00 - Senators red-hot run 20:35 - Rempe gets 8 games 26:55 - Fill in the Blank 42:50 - Utah’s in the mix Shoutout to our friends at Fountain Tire: https://www.fountaintire.com/promotions/?utm_source=tnn&utm_medium=podcast&utm_campaign=fountain Connect with us on ⬇️ Twitter Instagram Website Daily Faceoff Merch Hosted on Acast. It was a wild evening in the NHL as three trades went down in the matter of a few hours. Frank and Jason broke it all down today on a new episode of The DFO Rundown. They started with the deal that saw Alexandre Carrier go from the Nashville Predators to the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for Justin Barron. The guys talked about why the rebuilding Canadiens wanted to get an older, more expensive defenseman and whether or not Barron is a project worth taking on for the Preds. They then got to the Kappo Kakko trade as the Rangers moved the former second overall pick to the Seattle Kraken in exchange for a package that includes defenseman Will Borgen. Gregor likes the move for Seattle and thinks that Kakko still has some upside. Frank thinks the upside is limited and thinks the Rangers did well in this deal. They quickly touched on the small trade that the Pittsburgh Penguins made and then they talked a bit about the run that the Utah Hockey Club has been on. Are they capable of being a playoff team this year? Tyler then popped in for another edition of Buy or Sell where he asked the guys about the teams that are currently leading their division, the Penguins run and whether or not we’ll see another trade before tonight’s roster freeze. To wrap up the pod, they talked a little about Christmas plans, their youth hockey coaching experiences and they quickly touched on the Vancouver Canucks and their potential plans ahead of the roster freeze. 1:20 - Preds move Carrier to Montreal 11:55 - Kraken add Kakko 22:30 - Joseph goes back to Pittsburgh 25:05 - Utah’s on a run 31:30 - Buy or Sell 52:15 - Current state of the Canucks Shoutout to our friends at Fountain Tire: https://www.fountaintire.com/promotions/?utm_source=tnn&utm_medium=podcast&utm_campaign=fountain Connect with us on ⬇️ Twitter Instagram Website Daily Faceoff Merch Hosted on Acast. The DFO Rundown

To kick off a new edition of The DFO Rundown, Jason and Frank sunk their teeth into the latest surrounding the New York Rangers, who continue to struggle. GM Chris Drury tried to shake things up by trading Captain Jacob Trouba and it hasn’t sparked the team the way that they had hoped. Will someone pay for these struggles with their job? Or will the Rangers try to see this through with their current group? The guys debated it. From there, they went to upstate New York and talked about the Sabres ten game losing streak. Is it time for a change at the top in Buffalo? Frank thinks it might be but also wasn’t willing to say that their season is over. Things aren’t working and that is a fact. The Sabres will need to change something soon. They then went out west and talked about the comments that Vancouver Canucks Head Coach Rick Tocchet following the teams loss this weekend. Was Tocchet right to call out his team? The guys discussed it. Frank thinks the Canucks have an issue on their blueline and wondered if they should have been in on the Cam Fowler trade talks. That then led them to breakdown the deal that did happen between the Blues and Ducks. Tyler then popped in for a new edition of Fill in the Blank where he asked them about the Ottawa Senators playoff chances, who the truly elite teams are in the West, and which team could be next to make a trade. After that, they talked about the MVP race and a pair of teams in the Eastern Conference who are continuing to play well after strong starts to the season. 1:05 - Rangers struggles continue 16:10 - Can the Sabres turn it around? 25:05 - Tocchet’s post game comments 30:00 - Cam Fowler moves to St. Louis 34:30 - Fill in the Blank 35:50 - The MVP Race 54:00 - The Devils start 56:30 - The Capitals continued run Shoutout to our friends at Fountain Tire: https://www.fountaintire.com/promotions/?utm_source=tnn&utm_medium=podcast&utm_campaign=fountain Connect with us on ⬇️ Twitter Instagram Website Daily Faceoff Merch Hosted on Acast. Frank and Jason are back with a fresh episode of The DFO Rundown as they go around the league and touch on some of the bigger stories that are floating around. To start the pod, they talked about the Vancouver Canucks, who welcomed back Thatcher Demko to the lineup and are expected to have JT Miller back by the end of the week. Could the Canucks start to gain some momentum now that they have some key pieces back? One team that has not been gaining any sort of momentum is the Nashville Predators. They are still sitting at the bottom of the league after spending like drunken sailors over the summer. Frank speculated on whether or not a coaching change is needed while Gregor talked about how they need to just accept fate this year and take whatever draft pick they get. They also quickly touched on Trevor Zegras’ knee injury before bringing in Tyler Yaremchuk for Buy or Sell where he got the guys take on a few of the major awards that appear to have clear front runners at the one-third mark of the season. The DFO Rundown

Frank and Jason are back with a fresh edition of The DFO Rundown and to kick things off today, they discussed what went down on Friday with the New York Rangers as they made a pair of significant moves. First, they traded their Captain Jacob Trouba to the Anaheim Ducks and managed to get out of his entire contract then just a few hours later, they came to an agreement with franchise goalie Igor Shesterkin, which was the richest contract ever given to a goaltender. With all things considered, was Friday a win for GM Chris Drury? Or is there now pressure to add? The guys discussed that and also talked about why the Ducks wanted to make this move. The other piece of news from late last week was the third coaching change of the regular season. The Chicago Blackhawks fired Luke Richardson after just over two years behind their bench and replaced him with Anders Sorensen. That led to some talk about how the Blackhawks are handling their rebuild and whehter or not they’re on track in the Connor Bedard era. Tyler then popped in for Fill in the Blank where he asked the guys a little bit more about the Ducks plans and also how much longer Blackhawks fans will have to wait until they’re finally watching their team back in the playoffs. To wrap it up, Jason talked about the Eastern Conference playoff picture as things begin to tighten up. Can the Penguins actually stay in the hunt? Out West, Frank had some questions about the Dallas Stars. 1:10 - Rangers trade Trouba 11:40 - Shesterkin’s record extension 21:50 - Blackhawks fire Richardson 33:20 - Fill in the Blank 41:00 - Eastern playoff picture 46:20 - Western playoff picture 1:02:10 - Board of Governors preview Want to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? The Four Nations Rosters have officially been announced with roughly two months to go before the tournament will get going. That's where Jason and Frank began on today’s edition of The DFO Rundown. They started by talking about who who have been considered the last cuts for both Team USA and Team Canada. Players like Zach Hyman, Tage Thompson, Evan Bouchard, and Cole Caufield are the names that immediately got brought up, but Frank also thought a player like Jason Robertson deserved more love in the conversation. They also broke down some of the flaws with each team’s selection process. After breaking down each roster, Tyler jumped in for a new edition of Buy or Sell where he asked the guys about whether or not the Nashville Predators would consider a coaching change, if the Los Angeles Kings are legit contenders in the West, and whether or not Auston Matthews can work his way back into the goal scoring race. Happy Thanksgiving! Jason and Frank recorded a fresh episode of the podcast as the long weekend in the USA gets going. After some talk about the football schedule and Frank’s favourites parts of the holiday, the guys got into some talk about the toughest decisions that each team at the upcoming 4 Nations Faceoff is facing. This is the final podcast before the teams are going to be officially announced so they went through all four teams and talked about some of the bubble players that could end up making the cut. They started with Team USA where the goaltending seems locked in but there are a handful of open spots when it comes to both the forwards and defense. Players like Tage Thompson, Zach Werenski, and Chris Krieder are some of the names sparking up the most debate. For Team Canada, they discussed who the fourth-line centre should be with names like John Tavares, Connor Bedard, Nick Suzuki and Mark Schiefele all being possibilities. On the blueline, they debated the chances that someone like Evan Bouchard has of being on the team. The goaltending is obviously a soft spot for Canada and Jason and Frank gave their thoughts on who they could end up going with between the pipes. After going through the projected rosters for Finland and Sweden, they brought in Tyler Yaremchuk for a new edition of Fill in the Blank where he asked the guys about the playoff picture at the quarter way mark of the season and the trade rumours swirling around the New York Rangers. 4:40 - USA’s 4 Nations Roster 12:15 - Canada’s 4 Nations Roster 28:55 - Sweden’s 4 Nations Roster 39:35 - Fill in the Blank (Rangers, Bedard, playoff teams) Want to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? We got some big news in the NHL over the weekend as the St. Louis Blue fired Drew Bannister just 22 games into his Head Coaching career and promptly hired Jim Montgomery, who was let go from his job behind the Boston Bruins bench just five days earlier. That’s where Jason and Frank began with today’s edition of the show as they talked about why Blues GM Doug Armstrong made this move and the decision to give Montgomery a five-year contract. Can the Blues salvage this season? Is the future bright? The guys debated it. From there, they talked about the struggling Pittsburgh Penguins. The team seems lifeless and now the discussion is becoming what exactly should Kyle Dubas do this season? Frank believes they’re in the mix on David Jiricek, but isn’t quite sure what assets they’d be willing to give up. After a brief little bit of relationship advice from Gregor, they brought in Tyler for a new edition of Buy or Sell where he asked them about a couple of teams that are in interesting spots when it comes to the playoff picture. The DFO Rundown

The first trade targets list of the season has dropped and that means it’s officially time to start talking about what big moves we could see this year! Frank and Jason went through some of the more intriguing players on the board and which ones are more likely to move than others. Before they dug into that, they talked about the Nashville Predators and their continued struggles. Last night, they were assessed a minor penalty for not icing the proper starting lineup and wound up getting shutout by the Seattle Kraken. That led to the guys talking about the playoff picture in the West and which teams will find ways to stay in the conversation this year and who could fall out in the next few months. They then got into the trade talk and dug into Frank’s list. They started with Joel Farabee who is on the board even though he has three more years on his current deal. Frank believes he has 35+ goal potential and he just needs to be put in the right situation. They also talked about Michael Matheson, who Gregor thinks is the most intriguing defenseman on the board. Is it smart for the Habs to move on from their best defenseman though? They also had a long conversation about Blue Jackets forward Mathieu Olivier. Gregor thinks he would be a great add for a contender but also thinks the Blue Jackets would be foolish to move him while Frank thinks they should cash in on his value. There was some significant injury news this week too as the Capitals are going to be without Alex Ovechkin for the next few weeks. The timing could not have been any worse as he was on an absolute heater. Frank gave an update on when he could come back today. Tyler then popped in for a new edition of Fill in the Blank where he asked the guys about some award long-shots and the Predators playoff chances. They wrapped with some talk about the Toronto Maple Leafs and the run they’ve been on despite their injuries. They also gave their thoughts on the Jim Montgomery firing in Boston. 1:05 - Predators struggles continue 10:45 - Joel Farabee’s availability 16:40 - Could the Habs trade Mike Matheson? 22:00 - CBJ & Mathieu Olivier 32:10 - Ovechkin’s injury 33:35 - Fill in the Blank 44:40 - Montgomery firing Want to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? The Capitals have been red-hot so far this season and it’s not just Ovechkin driving things. Frank pointed out that this team is looking very balanced. They also talked about another team in the Eastern Conference: the Carolina Hurricanes. They’re being driven by Martin Necas’ hot start and that created a big debate about whether or not he’s just a player on a hot-streak or a budding star. They then dug into the Ryan Reaves hit on Darnell Nurse, which resulted in Reaves getting a five-game suspension. Did the league get this right? Was the hit as bad as the social media commentary made it out to be? The guys talked about it. They also talked about the struggles in Chicago. The team is struggling to string together wins and even more surprisingly, Connor Bedard is struggling and it all came to a front on Saturday night as he was frustrated in his return to his hometown of Vancouver. Tyler then popped in for Buy or Sell where he asked the guys about a few futures bets he likes over at Bet365. They wrapped up the show with a follow up on their conversation from last week about limiting contract terms, the Flyers' bounce back over their last ten games and a surprising contender in the Calder Trophy race. 1:00 - Ovechkin’s crazy pace 9:20 - Necas’ hot start 14:50 - Ryan Reaves suspension 21:05 - Bedard & the Blackhawks struggle 34:55 - Buy or Sell 44:20 - Limiting contract term 47:00 - Flyers bounce back 52:30 - Dustin Wolf & the Flames $250 Fanatics Gift Card Giveaway: https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/contests/speak-up-and-score Want to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? Frank is back from the GM Meetings and has some notes on what was discussed as some of the most influential minds in hockey got together. The league and the players association are getting close to having to negotiate a new CBA and that means each side is starting to have internal discussions about what they could want. That’s where the guys started today on the podcast and it led to some interesting debates about whether or not they could change the term limits for player contracts, how LTIR could change, and other things that could be changed in the next CBA. Tyler then popped in for a new edition of Fill in the Blank where he asked the guys who their quarter way Jack Adams winner would be and how many career points Connor McDavid will finish with when all is said and done. After that, they talked a little bit more about McDavid’s upcoming milestone as he closes in on 1000 career points. Frank talked about a few players in the 1000 point club who were maybe a little under appreciated. They wrapped up the show by talking about the next Hockey Hall of Fame class and who are the locks to get in. They debated Carey Price, Joe Thornton, Duncan Keith, Ryan Getzlaf, and Duncan Keith and their chances of getting in. 2:20 - Term limits 17:44 - How could LTIR change? 32:40 - Fill in the Blank 46:00 - Under Appreciated players in the 1k club 52:00 - Next HHOF Class $250 Fanatics Gift Card Giveaway: https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/contests/speak-up-and-score Want to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? Today on The DFO Rundown, Jason and Frank started off by talking about Hall of Fame weekend in Toronto. Frank was in attendance for the induction ceremony and talked about why this weekend is one his his favourites. Jeremy Roenick stole the show with his Mike Keenan urinal story which reminded Frank that he’s been through a similar experience. They also talked about some of the names eligible for the 2025 HHOF Class. From there, they moved on to Alex Ovechkin and the feverish pace he’s off to this season. The question is no longer “will he catch Wayne Gretzky?” it’s now “when will he catch him?” and as he continues to pile up the goals, there becomes a better and better chance that he actually breaks The Great One’s record in fewer games. Tyler then popped in for Buy or Sell where he asked the guys just how high the Winnipeg Jets could soar, how long it will take McDavid to get back into the top ten of league scoring, and whether or now we’ll see a coach get fired this month. After that, Gregor and Frank talked about Nathan MacKinnon’s crazy production this season and how even with that, the Avs continue to look mediocre. Frank wrapped up the pod by telling us what he’s expected to hear at the GM Meetings on Tuesday. 1:10 - HHOF Weekend 12:15 - Ovechkin’s record chase 20:50 - Matthews injury & Leafs roster update 22:15 - Buy or Sell (Penguins, Jets, McDavid) 35:00 - MacKinnon’s crazy pace 49:20 - GM Meetings preview $250 Fanatics Gift Card Giveaway: https://www.dailyfaceoff.com/contests/speak-up-and-score Want to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team?
