In this episode of Thinking That Matters, I had a great conversation with my longtime friend and community advocate, David Garcia. David, a McKinney native, is not only a successful entrepreneur running a roofing company and a marketing agency, but he's also the founder of Boomerang Cares Foundation, a nonprofit helping families in Collin County through tough times.

David’s passion for giving back started when he was a kid after his family received a surprise delivery of toys from the Salvation Army. That experience inspired him to create the Boomerang toy drive, which has grown year after year.

During our conversation, David opened up about the challenges of entrepreneurship, especially the need for structure and processes as businesses expand. He shared personal insights into the importance of self-awareness and how recognizing his own strengths and weaknesses has been key to his growth.

We also explored how faith shapes David’s life and the culture of his businesses. His faith-based approach fosters a supportive work environment, where his team can thrive. David believes that putting God at the center of his work allows him to navigate challenges with purpose.

He also shared his belief in the power of mindset, the importance of execution, and the necessity of stepping out of one’s comfort zone to foster growth and success.

David Garcia, founder of the Boomerang Cares Foundation, was inspired by his own childhood experience receiving gifts from the Salvation Army. What began as a small toy collection among friends has grown into an annual initiative that supports families in need across Collin County. Since the first toy drive in 2015, David has expanded his efforts, hosting annual galas and raising thousands to provide for children and families facing hardships. With a deep commitment to paying kindness forward, David continues to impact his community, helping with everything from covering grocery bills to funding after-school programs.

Through her study of the Bible, time as an entrepreneur, and the accountability of some great mentors Elizabeth, is a transformed woman. Today, she passionately invests her time helping others transform their thinking.

Elizabeth is author of the recently published Transform My Thinking, God study on the book of Philippians.
