English spoken - In this episode of the Leiden Psychology Podcast we talk with neuroscientist Michiel van Elk about his research into psychedelic drugs. We talk about the importance of empirical research to determine the effects of psychedelics, the possible applications of psychedelics and the challenges that come with this. Also, we discuss how he has become more critical about psychedelic research and how this view has changed since writing his book "A sober view on psychedelics" (written in Dutch: een nuchtere kijk op psychedelica). Lastly, Michiel shares how he sees the future of psychedelics.
