On Episode 34, I chat with Geoff Bell who is the director and CEO of MicroBioGen. MicroBioGen is an Australian Industrial biotech company that has created a modified version of a common yeast that can turn non-food products, like agricultural waste and timber offcuts, into low-carbon bioethanol and high-protein food products.

MicroBioGen’s work underpin products worth around US$2 trillion per year.

After a successful career in the finance world, Geoff turned his focus to the biotech industry.

MicroBioGen recently finalised a yeast product for the efficient production of 2nd generation biofuels, with The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) supporting MicroBioGen with their $8 million dollar optimisation program.

In today’s episode Geoff is here to discuss:

- Why MicroBioGen was established?

- Benefits of the biotech industry.

- The future of biotech.
