Are virtual events going to disappear once the pandemic eases up? In this conversation with Blue Melnick and Bari Baumgardner, owners of Sage Events Management, they weigh in on the future of online events and offer up some useful insights.
It was clear right from the beginning of the conversation that both Blue and Bari are convinced that online platforms are here to stay. Why are they so confident?
One reason is the magnitude of the shift that happened as a result of the pandemic. Things aren't going to go back to how they were before. They’ve simply changed too drastically and people have gotten used to the new normal.
You see, people realize that they can have a global reach and increase their profits through online events. Not only that, but virtual events are so widely accepted now that people are ready and willing to engage with what was once completely foreign to them.
Now, do we lose something when an in-person event gets adapted to an online platform?
Not necessarily. In-person events have always had the potential to disappoint in terms of the level of interaction that people experience. On the other hand, when an online event is run properly, it can bring people together in new ways.
Through break-out groups and direct interaction with the speaker, virtual events offer tons of opportunities for engagement.
The verdict is clear, at least for Bari and Blue – online events are here to stay. And judging from this conversation, that may just be a gift to us all.
