China is currently rolling out its Social Credit System, in which citizens receive a score based on their behavior online and offline. But as Andie Zhang points out, the ordinary Chinese citizen doesn't seem to mind - in fact, many people welcome the initiative. It's a matter of trading privacy for convenience, and isn't this exactly what we're doing in the West as well, with our deep connection to the Big Tech companies?
