In the second episode of our Black History Month Special we explore the complicated subject of Black History within the Education System. The conversation warranted a two-part episode and in this Part One, Angelo leads us in a discussion of our own experiences growing up and learning while Black in British and American school systems. We start by acknowledging the lack of Black historical figures and stories in our educational journeys and discuss the danger of erasure and the importance of teaching Black history for all people across all subjects. We then address the Pure Gym incident, who should be held accountable for miseducation, and how we can treat misguided moments as launchpads for further conversation (27:24). We finish up by looking at alternative education and how social media is enabling Black People to access different stories and viewpoints in history (46:08). Like. Share. Subscribe.
